Fiddle star Mark O’Connor, symphony to synch up

Grammy Award-winning fiddler Mark O’Connor, will deliver a “brilliantly original” show with the Appalachia Waltz Trio to those who appreciate a rare musical treat. The versatility of O’Connor, who has performed with such acts as Yo Yo Ma and Renee Fleming, includes American folk idioms, orchestra classics and country fiddle genres. The Appalachia Waltz Trio, which includes violist Gillian Gallagher and cellist Mike Block, performs with the Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church (57810 Main St.) in Plaquemine as part of the Historic Plaquemine Performing Arts Series this summer. 6 p.m. Sunday.
