N.O. sushi restaurant moving to B.R.
Rock N Sake, a popular New Orleans sushi restaurant, will open in a 3,500-square-foot space in the old Perkins Road Hardware later this year, after winning zoning change approval through the Metro Council. “A lot of our clients come to our restaurant on the weekends from Baton Rouge,” says managing partner Tisbee Dantin. “Baton Rouge is very attractive for us. We’ve been searching for a spot for three years, so we’re very excited.”
Dantin says the hard-cover menu and sushi list will remain the same for the new location, and the more popular specials eventually will make it onto the menu, pending Baton Rouge’s tastes. Rock N Sake will have an extensive list of sake cocktails, as well.
“I personally have not had a chance to eat at Rock N Sake because every time I go to New Orleans, there is a two-hour wait,” says Chad Ortte of Donnie Jarreau Real Estate, who announced the deal. “But I hear the food and atmosphere are great.”
Also going in the old Perkins Road Hardware store is Jimmy John’s Gourmet Sandwiches. The delivery franchise opens in its 1,300-square-foot space in three or four months. Ortte says there is still 2,600 square feet left in the old hardware store, and several boutiques, salons and small shops have been eying the space.
