Scuttlebutt: Abita to stock shelves with Satsuma Harvest Wit … Champagne festival booked … Galatoire’s Bistro mentioned in ‘SL’
Sassy Satsuma: Look for Abita Satsuma Harvest Wit to hit shelves in New Orleans the first week in June, and soon in Baton Rouge stores. The newest flavor from the greenest brewery in the South doesn’t have an overpowering citrus taste, but does carry a hint of cayenne pepper. The Satsuma beer will be packaged in six packs of 12-ounce bottles. Clear your schedule: Just when you thought wine festivals were all the rage, here comes the New Orleans Sparkling Wine & Champagne Festival, set for the weekend of April 15-18, 2010. Look for the bubbly trends from Spain, France, Italy, Australia and California at the Monteleone and the Convention Center. A shout-out: Southern Living’s June issue features a spread on the next generation of Galatoire’s, namely the Baton Rouge bistro location. “A comparison of the two establishments seems slightly unfair but expected,” SL food writer Taylor Bruce says. “Conversely, the waitstaff is not your decades-familiar gents. College kids now scurry about in long black neckties, well-taught but with admittedly less Cajun gentility.” Look for the issues to hit stands this week.
