Road Trip: La Provence
About an hour east down the I-12 is a cozy Lake Ponchartrain town called LaComb, which has a little secret getaway for foodies: La Provence, a John Besh restaurant. The acclaimed South Louisiana chef took over when the restaurant’s founder—and his mentor—Chris Kerageorgiou, died in 2006. Should you make the trip, try the quail gumbo and the daube de cabri (young goatmeat with white grits and jus naturel), polished with wine-stewed berries and crčme brulee. It’s worth the drive on a Saturday evening.
