Documenting Swamp Pop

Eight members, 25 egos, six livers. That and a lot of ingenuity comprises the Lil’ Band O’ Gold, Southwestern Louisiana’s premiere swamp pop supergroup. Matthew Wilkinson’s The Promised Land: A Swamp Pop Journey is a new documentary detailing this band of musical brothers that includes accordionist Steve Riley, pianist David Eagan and guitarist “Lil’ Buck” Sinegal. The documentary earned a lot of converts at Austin’s South By Southwest last month, and the Manship Theatre hosts the Baton Rouge premiere of the film Tuesday, April 21 at 7 p.m.
