A heavenly brew
The brewmasters from Louisiana’s favorite microbrewery have brought us the Abbey Ale. This dark, amber-colored, medium-bodied Belgian-style dubbel ale is respectfully complex with rich malt flavors, fruity caramel aromas and a rounded hint of bitterness in the clean finish. This bottle-fermented ale’s creamy head presents a much smaller froth bubble than normal, meaning that this is a well-crafted beer. At 8% alcohol, it should be savored slowly, and since it is served in a 22-ounce bottle, it can be shared with a friend. Abita has dedicated this beer to honor the history of brewing and to honor the brothers of the Saint Joseph’s Abbey, located just north of the Abita Brewery. The abbey receives a portion of the proceeds from the sale of each Abbey Ale bottle, which goes for roughly $4.50 or $5 a pop depending where you get it. So drink up! It’s okay; it’s for a good cause.
