How progressive: The merchants of Perkins Road Overpass area are doing something that should’ve been done a long time ago: A progressive dinner. Set your calendar for Thursday, April 16, for enjoy late-evening shopping and entertainment in the mom-and-pop shops that dot the historic district. The “Moveable Feast” benefits Best Buddies Louisiana, a nonprofit that will “provide friendship and employment opportunities for people with intellectual disabilities right here in Louisiana.” Participating restaurants and merchants include Chelsea’s, Zippy’s, George’s, DiGulio Brothers, Bella Bella, Zee Zee Gardens, Royal Standard and Cottonwood Books. Advance tickets are $35. 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Details at bestbuddieslouisiana.org.Pita power: Extreme Pita, a late-night, health-conscious chain, is opening on Essen Lane in the same shopping center as Ichiban. The franchisee hopes to open on May 1. The new eatery will serve bistro-style sandwich wraps, gyros, falafel, pita bread, salads and soups.
