Rachel Getting Married in stores this week
If you sat through Noah Baumbauch’s awful waste Margot at the Wedding, you owe it to yourself to use this similarly themed, but much more accomplished film wash that taste out. Any vestiges of Anne Hathaway as a kid’s movie princess wash away with it, too, in her Oscar-nominated performance as a recovering drug addict who becomes the human wrench thrown into her more stable and successful sister’s nuptials. Written by Jenny Lumet—yes, Sidney’s daughter—and directed by Philadelphia’s Jonathan Demme, Rachel Getting Married is a brutally frank look at dysfunctional family dynamics and what it takes to heel long-standing wounds. Rosemarie DeWitt and Debra Winger co-star. Rated R.
