Soprano performs French folklore with BRSO
American soprano Alyson Cambridge and the Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra deliver a hauntingly beautiful performance of Chants d’Auvergne by Joseph Canteloube, based on French folklore and rustic melodies, as well as Bela Bartok’s Concerto for Orchestra and Tchaikovsky’s Capriccio Italien. Cambridge is a frequent guest of the Metropolitan Opera, and has performed around the world with a “powerful, clear voice,” writes the New York Times. The show, the fourth installment of the Entergy Masterwork Series led by BRSO music director Timothy Muffitt, starts at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the River Center Theatre for Performing Arts. Tickets are $17 to $49 and available through brso.org. (Photo by Dario Acosta)
