New year, new recipes

No doubt many of us have food-related goals this year, so to keep the recipe fires churning this year, here are a few Web sites to turn to when the idea file gets low.

You already know the handy epicurious Web site, a winning round up of recipes from the magazines Bon Appetit and Gourmet, along with weeknight solutions and food commentary. The site’s epitogo is among the first to be hand-held readable, making it easier to view recipes and to create paperless shopping lists on the fly.

I like Whole Foods online for well-organized healthy and gourmet recipes, tips on offbeat ingredients and reasonably affordably menu planners. I have fewer vegetarian recipes in my head than tried and true Southern fare, so this is a great one to turn to when I crave things like Swiss chard, butternut squash and fresh takes on beans.

MyRecipes.com incorporates the recipes of Southern Living, Cooking Light, Coastal Living and others, and features short articles as well as a daily dinner suggestion and a top five recipe round up.

Finally, seriouseats.com is a trove of ideas and inspirations, including wine notes and tested recipes from respected cookbooks.
