Lollapalooza’s street party starts just after work Friday

The Arts Council returns its Lollapalooza street party this Friday evening at its headquarters on Laurel Street. In every corner of the festivities exists the Baton Rouge trinity that is art, music and food. The silent auction includes more than 200 items such as quilts by Merlene Lewis, pottery from FestForAll winner Charles Smith of Mobile, Ala., Lee Michaels jewelry, a Red Door chest of drawers, a Donna West original and tickets for the River City Jazz Masters series and the 70th anniversary show of Blue Note Records in February. Music includes the Michael Foster Project and others. Endless food from Galatoire’s, Camelot Club, Harrington’s, Vic’s Chophouse, Capital City Grill, Fish City Grill, Mestizo, Voodoo BBQ and a dozen other places. 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Reserve your tickets today because they’re $40 in advance, $45 at the door. $350 for 10 tickets.
