2008 in pictures

Amateur shutterbugs and professional photographers submitted their favorite 2008 photos for the 225 Photo Contest.

In fact, they swamped our e-mail inbox with hundreds of entries.

Our three judges (two editors and a professional photographer) pored over the photographs, evaluated them, and selected the winners.

The photos on the following pages showcase this year’s winners, who will receive prizes for their fine work. And there are plenty of other pictures that capture the flavor of the Capital Area—some by amateurs, some by pros and some by our 225 team (although theirs weren’t part of the contest).
