Zombies move on
Baton Rougeans could have spotted Woody Harrelson wrestling with a roving gang of the undead this month, but instead the Sony Pictures comedy Zombieland has bypassed the city. The snag came when the studio and Dixie Landin’ Amusement Park could not agree on a fee for using the park’s facilities to shoot a major sequence of the film. Days after negotiations ended, Sony executives decided during Halloween weekend to sign with Six Flags Over Georgia and film Zombieland in and around Atlanta.
Daniel Lewis, CFO and director of production services for Louisiana Media Productions, says the film would have contributed roughly $25 million to the local and state economies and calls the situation unfortunate.
Attack on the Governor, Lightning Strikes, Entity and a handful of other film and television productions are in various stages of development in Baton Rouge.
