“April 25, 2005. I played at the Dragon’s Den in New Orleans with Simon Lott, Brian Coogan and Joshua Smith, a saxophonist from Cleveland. I was playing bass for this gig. Even though we’d never played together in that arrangement, it clicked. I suppose it was as close to a spiritual experience as I’ve ever had, but we all walked away from that gig completely shocked at what had just happened. It was incredible.”
