Road trip: Widespread Panic, Joe Satriani in New Orleans

Widespread Panic delivers non-stop hippie jams at the Lakefront Arena in New Orleans. 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1. Guitar god Joe Satriani, former lead guitarist for Deep Purple, visits New Orleans’ House of Blues on Monday, Nov. 3 with special guests Mountain (of “Mississippi Queen” fame). Show at 8 p.m. $45. 18 and up. So he’s not quite a guitar god, but John Darnielle has a way with words. His band, The Mountain Goats, just released another beautiful album, Heretic Pride. They will play New Orleans’ The Republic on Monday, Nov. 3 with Kaki King opening. Doors at 8 p.m. Show at 9. $16. 18 and up.
