Kit Kittredge: An American Girl on DVD

It’s a sign of the times that marketing provides such fertile soil for a creative field like filmmaking. So it is ironic that Kit Kittredge, whose plot developed as the back-story for a line of American Girl dolls, is set during the Great Depression. Little Miss Sunshine star Abigail Breslin is the title character, an aspiring journalist who works feverishly to be published as her parents struggle to make ends meet and take in a series of boarders to earn extra income. Chris O’Donnell, Julia Ormand and Stanley Tucci co-star. Rated PG.
