Road trip: Fleet Foxes, Maroon 5, Okkervil River in N.O.
If Beach Boys’ harmonies and Iron & Wine’s acoustic strums are your thing, than you’re more than likely a fan of Seattle’s Fleet Foxes. The critical darlings, who just released their self-titled debut this year, play the Howlin’ Wolf on Sunday, Sept. 28 with Frank Fairfield opening. 9 p.m. $10. Pop-rock chart-toppers Maroon 5 hit the stage on Monday night at New Orleans’ House of Blues. The show benefits the Make It Right Foundation. Brandi Carlile opens. Doors open at 7 p.m. Show at 8. $60. Fans of reliable alternative rock should check out Okkervil River at New Orleans’ The Republic next Tuesday night. The band just released their second album in two years, The Stand-Ins, a noteworthy follow-up to 2007’s The Stage Names. Doors open at 8 p.m. Show at 8:30. $12. 18 and up.
