Acme Oyster House brings New Orleans flavor to Perkins

You don’t have to eat oysters to have an exceptional experience at the city’s newest restaurant, Acme Oyster House, on Perkins Road near I-10 (by the old Wal-Mart location). The New Orleans seafood eatery, known for its history of back-door political deals in a saloon-style environment, has a festival, sporty feel. Their fried crab claws (pictured) are among the meatiest in town, though the cocktail sauce is heavy on the horseradish. The seafood is fresh, never frozen, and Acme’s 10-napkin roast beef po-boy is actually the real deal: slow-cooked pot roast. Make plans soon to dine in. Hours are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and until 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Call 906-2372 for to-go orders. (Photo by Rebecca Breeden)
