Alt-rockers wanna take you back to “Possum Kingdom”

Almost a decade after releasing Hell Below/Stars Above, The Toadies are back with a new album and tour. The Texas band brings its soft-loud guitar crunch and shouty vocals to the Varsity Theatre tonight. These guys know about ups-and-downs what with their former major label losing the master tape of a follow-up album, with a break-up shortly after the release of the aforementioned 2001 album. Maybe they’ll get some luck with this new disc, No Deliverance, and a couple of packed shows. With Lions opening, this is a sure thing for rock fans. $12 online, $15 at the door.
