Gourmet food, wine tasting to benefit youth programs

Epicurean Society’s wine-tasting to benefit youth programsMore than 150 wines and specialty foods prepared by the best chefs, restaurants, gourmet groceries and specialty wine shops will be featured at the Baton Rouge Epicurean Society’s charity. Meet local artists, and participate in a silent auction and special door prizes. Proceeds benefit Smart Bodies, a youth program for healthy bodies and active minds, as well as the Power of Youth, 4-H Club leadership programs, Pro-Start, a Louisiana Restaurant Association and EBR School System program promoting high school culinary education programs and the Epicurean Scholarship Funding. 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 28 at the Marriott Hotel, 5500 Hilton Ave. $75 per person. $85 at the door.
