Bring your lawn chairs Friday evening to Lafayette Park for old-school R&B and a movie. The Mid Summer Night Dance Party starts at 6 p.m. with the funky sounds of After 8, an eight-piece that covers hits by brilliant artists such as Stevie Wonder, Barry White and Earth, Wind and Fire. Stick around for the outdoor screening of Little Shop of Horrors (Feed me, Seymour!) at 9:15 p.m. Capital City Grill will be open, and Boudreaux & Thibodeaux will grill hamburgers just outside the Shaw Center. Free. If you miss out or just have too much fun, catch round two the following weekend: a Southern Night Under the Oaks featuring music by Sweet Root and a screening of Tim Burton’s Big Fish.
