What’s for lunch Thursday? Jambalaya!
The Capital Area United Way is hosting its 2008 Campaign Kickoff this Thursday in the Baton Rouge River Center Exhibition Hall. What that means for you is a chance to pick up some award-winning jambalaya for less than a fast-food value meal. It’s also an opportunity to give back to one of CAUW’s agencies like Cancer Services of Greater Baton Rouge and the Boys & Girls Club during a time when the slow economy has overall donations in a lull. The citywide Jambalaya Cookoff coincides with the start of CAUW’s fundraising campaign and features top amateur chefs from 40 companies vying for the title. Competing teams will arrive at 6 a.m. to fire up their pots and have their Cajun rice, sausage and chicken goodness ready by 10 a.m. Free admission. Call ahead to pick up or drive-thru and get your jambalaya fix. 382-3514. 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
