Dolly Parton’s Community Coffee collab hits the market today

The next time you tumble out of bed and stumble to the kitchen, you might have a new caffeinated drink to help you start the day.

In the months before her late August death, Dolly Parton collaborated with family-owned, Baton Rouge-based brand Community Coffee to brew signature coffee blends inspired by her beloved anthem “9 to 5.” 

The Cup of Ambition line debuted at Dolly’s Tennessean Travel Stop in June, but the brand is now ready to expand. Starting today, Sept. 29, also known as National Coffee Day, the Cup of Ambition line is available to purchase as grounds or pods in dark, medium and light roasts. 

In an Instagram post on the coffee brand’s page, Parton said she had been working toward a launch like this for over 40 years after deciding “Cup of Ambition” would be a perfect name for a coffee brand. Now the late legendary star’s caffeine dream is a reality.

“I’ve spent a lifetime workin’ 9 to 5, 5 to 9, and every hour in between! It takes a lot of energy to pursue your passion and navigate each day. That’s why I wanted to make a coffee that works just as hard. You know, I begin each morning with a head full of dreams, a notepad full of ideas, and a cup or two of coffee,” Parton said in preparation for the brand’s launch in a press release on Community Coffee’s website. “Whether you’re chasing dreams, tackling that to-do list, or just enjoying a quiet morning at home. I hope it brings a smile with every sip.”

This launch coincides with Community Coffee’s new partnership with Lafayette Parish School System to relaunch Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library in Lafayette Parish.

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library program began over 30 years ago in East Tennessee, but is now an international program that delivers books to millions of children. The program aims to inspire a love for reading at the earliest stage of life. 

According to Lafayette Parish School System Superintendent Francis Touchet Jr., this program helps kickstart learning language, vocabulary and literacy skills before a child ever enters a classroom. 

The Cup of Ambition line will be available to ship nationwide, but some folks will get to try the brew in person before they buy. Community Coffee and Cup of Ambition will take to the road next week for a sip-and-sample tour with the Dolly Coffee Trolley. For now, the trolley has scheduled stops across Tennessee, but plans to add more dates across the Southeast soon. Follow Cup of Ambition on Instagram to see when stops are added.
