Beware! Bocage’s viral skeleton graveyard is back
Rebecca Harrod is bringing the undead to life this month for the second year in a row. The Harrod family home on Bocage Boulevard quickly became Internet famous last year for its curbside “skelebrity graveyard,” and it will be back for round two this Halloween.
Harrod was inspired by “The Skeleton House” in New Orleans, but she wanted to put a Baton Rouge spin on the idea. On a whim, she decided in early October of last year to create her own skeleton setup and ordered more than 150 plastic skeletons for the graveyard.

“I just ordered the skeletons, and then I got a call from my husband … ‘What in the heck is being delivered? We can’t get out of the house,’” Harrod recalls. “I ran outside, and there the FedEx truck was pulled up, [and] the entire thing was skeletons.”
With the help of family and friends, Harrod was able to name, dress and put up her entire graveyard in just a week. With pop culture icons including “Slay-lor Swift,” local celebrities like “Joe Burrow-ed alive” and children’s book characters such as “Hearse-y Jackson,” this “skelebrity graveyard” had someone for everyone.
Harrod says she expected to be teased for the strange setup but was shocked to hear how much people loved the display.
Though she’s not sure which creepy characters she wants to add, keep or take away this year, Harrod knows that whatever she does has to be a step up. “You can’t let the people down,” she says.
Seeing how much fun people had with her skeletons last year, Harrod is planning on going even bigger this year, which means her husband may step out to yet another massive FedEx delivery.
“I’m probably going to need more skeletons, but I didn’t want to do that to my husband all at once because I think he’d have a heart attack,” she says. “So we just started with 50, and I’m going to have to buy more. But he’s not going to know that.”
