Crack up laughing during Leather Apron Theatre Co.’s improv night Sept. 5
Aiming to bring the laughs to Louisiana, The Leather Apron Theatre Co., a non-profit comedy theater collective, hosts monthly improv nights featuring performances by their own teams and guests. Check out this month’s show at Driftwood Cask & Barrel on Tuesday, Sept. 5.
LATco, specializing in long-form improv, showcases diverse ensemble groups who tackle comedy in their own unique styles, ranging from musicals to puppet shows.
Opening this month’s show will be house team/improvised singing duo B.A.M., who will perform songs inspired by the audience. Another of LATco’s house teams, Dirty Karma, will also be performing, along with 85-year-old guest monologist Martha Weems.

LATco was founded by Louisiana native T.C. Matherne and strives for each show to be different than the last. By using long-form improv rather than the orthodox method of games and short bits, each show is like a play with no script. The lineup will change, but the laughs remain the same.
You can be the judge of that come Tuesday. Grab a friend and head to Driftwood Cask & Barrel for the show, which will begin at 8 p.m. Cover is free. Driftwood is at 326 N. Third St.
