225‘s Press Play gives you an exclusive listen to a local band’s latest songs before the release date

Lagniappe Records’ DIY label celebrates its first release next Tuesday, March 17, a seven-inch single from The Chambers. The release features “Touchless Automatic” (which you can hear below) and “Bottoms of My Feet,” both written by guitarist/singer Alex Abel, the frontman of the young psychedelic guitar rock band.

Following the release, the band will have a record release party at Lagniappe Records (705 St. Joseph St.) Saturday, March 21. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. Loudness War will also perform. Cover is $7. For more information and to RSVP, click here.

Now, for the song we’re premiering—”Touchless Automatic.” Produced by Lagniappe’s Tess Brunet and recorded with John Tulley at The Legendary Noise Floor, the song is a quick reminder why the community has latched on to the band. When you’re young and you rock, you do so without hesitation. You don’t think about all the minutia that comes into play—tuning, tempo, lyrics being about anything in particular. You simply want to make some noise.

“Touchless Automatic” is controlled chaos, shifting from riff to riff like a snake in the grass. It’s a rock ‘n’ roll burst that’s an impressive jumping off point for a young band and Lagniappe.
