Indie rock band Islands to perform at Spanish Moon

Since forming in Montreal more than seven years ago, the band Islands has undergone several major lineup changes, which might explain some of the subtle yet obvious differences in style between each of their first three albums.

However, the mainstay of the group is songwriter/frontman Nick Thorburn, who had critical acclaim with the cult favorite album Who Will Cut Our Hair When We’re Gone with The Unicorns in 2003.

When The Unicorns disbanded, Thorburn formed Islands, and the band’s 2006 debut Return to the Sea earned acclaim for its quirks and ability to hop genres.

Last year, the band released its fourth album Ski Mask and are currently touring in support of it. Next Sunday, Islands will perform at Spanish Moon with TEENS. Doors open at 8 p.m. Tickets are $12 online. RSVP and get more information.
