Gourmet crawfish tasting event returns next week

It’s crawfish season, and the Baton Rouge Epicurean Society’s CrawFête is right around the corner.

The gourmet crawfish tasting event kicks off next Thursday, April 16, 6 p.m.-9 p.m. at Mockler Beverage Company, 11811 Reiger Road. Tickets are $50 per person. Proceeds from CrawFête benefit local childhood nutrition programs in the greater Baton Rouge area.

The annual festivities feature more than 15 chefs preparing dishes paired with wines, beers and spirits that are provided by Mockler. This year’s participants include Jay Bookman of Cupcake Allie, William Wells of Culinary Productions, Kelley McCann of Galatoire’s Bistro and Scott Varnedoe of Restaurant IPO.

  • Creole crawfish cakes from Cynthia Langhoff of Alexander’s Highland Market
  • Smoked crawfish boudin ball from David Dickensauge of Bin 77
  • Crawfish three ways from Colt Patin of Louisiana Culinary Institute
  • Crawfish honey bun from Matt Reed of Reed’s Cakes and Catering
  • Crawfish poutine from Mark Reilly of Stroubes
  • General Tso’s crawfish from Leighton Carbo of Sullivan’s
