Food was good, a little overpriced, but good. The service was terrible. I have given it 3 tries now. I truely enjoy the food, but the staff is incompetent. I took my grandmother on a Thursday afternoon. We were seated promptly and ordered our food within 15 minutes. We waited over 1 hour and 30 minutes for our food. We could hardley find any staff. The last time, a drink was spilled by a passing waiter. The waiter looked and walked off. Staff needs better management!!!!!!!

I went to Copeland's on Essen tonight for the first time. Needless to say, it was as delicious as everyone said it was!
The restaurant was dark, which I didn't care for. But no one had children there, so it was quiet and relaxing. The music on the radio was a bit too loud and kind of obnoxious considering the atmosphere.
Our waiter, Steven, did a wonderful job. He explained and described menu items and was very knowledgeable. Service was fast and courteous.
There were only two dishes I thought weren't worth what I paid. Those were the undeveloped white chocolate bread pudding and the mediocre quesadillas. Everything else we bought went above and beyond normal flavor conceptions. This is definitely a restaurant I would go out of my way to revisit.
We started with the spinach and artichoke dip, served with crispy fried bowtie pasta. I shied away from this dish at first, because fried pasta didn't sound very appetizing. But it wound up being very delicious! Surprisingly crunchy, not too salty, very scrumptious.
Next up, I had a Chop salad with the bacon on the side, as well as a cheese quesadilla with the blackened shrimp on the side. The salad was finely chopped, almost reminiscent of a coleslaw. It had huge flavor. Heart of palm, eggs, onion, and more were the filler in this well rounded dish. The balsamic vinaigrette was a little overpowering, and it took away from the mingling flavors, so if you order this, ask for less dressing.
The quesadilla was about what one should expect from most restaurants. There was nothing that set it apart, unlike the other dishes I had tonight. However, it was still pretty good, and my father enjoyed the blackened shrimp.
My brother enjoyed 3 entrees from the "small plate" menu. One that was beef served with pasta, one was Crab Ravioli. and the third was the London Broil, which he said was like "velvet on the tongue".
My dad had the seafood platter. It was piled so high that he wound up taking over half of it home with him. Shimp, Scallops, Onion strings, french bread and more come on this plate. It is honestly enough for two or three people to share (two if you don't order an appetizer).
Finally, dessert was decadent. I ordered a Praline Napoleon cheesecake. It was a slice of cheesecake sandwiched between a moist, soft cake. Pralines were crumbled over it with a rich, creamy praline sauce. If you plan on ordering dessert and you're with friends, I suggest that you share. It's too large and sweet for one person. I also tasted the cheesecake with strawberry and blueberry topping as well as the white chocolate bread pudding. The fruit topped cheesecake was light, fluffy, creamy, and absolutely perfect. The bread pudding was eggy and left alot to be desired.
I'll absolutely return to Copeland's, and I will recommend it to all of my friends.
