Description: Brunner Gallery at the Shaw Center for the Arts in downtown Baton Rouge is pleased to announce a new exhibition of wood and mixed media sculpture by Rick Brunner. The exhibition titled “My Life Before Me” will be on display October 7 through November 26, 2006. The artist will be present at a reception on Saturday evening, October 21, 6-8 pm.
Rick Brunner lives and works in St. Tammany Parish. He is nationally recognized in his field. In 2005-2006 he was awarded four national grants including a Pollack-Krasner Foundation Grant, Gottlieb Foundation Grant, Joan Mitchell Foundation Grant and CERF acknowledging his contributions to contemporary sculpture. “My Life Before Me” is a contemplative series in which the artist studies his past, present and future. A variety of wood, metal and mixed media sculptures are manifestations of the artist’s reflections about his life. Both two and three dimensional pieces are included in this newest body of work.
Brunner Gallery exclusively represents the sculpture of Rick Brunner. His work may be found in many corporate and museum collections including the New Orleans Museum of Art, Masur Museum, Mobile Museum of Art, LSU Museum of Art, and the Gulf Coast Museum of the South.
Brunner Gallery is located on the second floor of the Shaw Center for the Arts. The gallery is open Wednesday through Saturday, 10 am to 5 pm or by appointment. For information about this exhibition call 225-389-7224 or visit the website at www.brunnergallery.com
