Marci, I just have to agree with you. David, you really went a little crazy on your own rant. While I kinda got the gist of what you're saying, it was off base. "Areaux1" and "clm616", you guys did insinuate that there was some sort of racial biased without even looking to how the poll (thank you Marci) was conducted. Dont be so quick to throw the race card in - I think that was that point Dave so inelloquently tried to make.
So, yeah, Im a white guy, 30 years old. I worked offshore and around the country. Spent a good stint in Houston where I was the minority. No biggie really. I still found plenty to do. I moved back to BR a couple of years ago and the attitude is definately different. It was the way I was looked at by blacks, the lack of politeness or general courtesy (maybe others too, but let's face it, South Louisiana is mainly black & white so I'm gonna run with it). It was something about BR I didnt notice growing up around here, only after leaving.
Here's my suggestion, and take it how you want. There is still lots of racism and stupidity and all that stuff in the world. How both sides treat each other is what's going to fix it. No pointing fingers by one side with false accusations, and no jumping the gun and flying off the handle by the other could really fix a lot of problems. Half the time, maybe it really is just bad customer service. Other times, unfortunately it's not. Be reeal though, it is a few bad apples ruining a good time for everyone. Because one waiter mistreats someone in a business because of race, it does not reflect the feelings of the patrons. I think, generally, we can and should trust each other.
All I do know for sure is that this board is supposed to be used for discussing fun places to go out and not the racial problems of America. "Areaux1" and "clm616"? Why not mention a few places to go out instead. Maybe Ill check em out too.
