I have eaten at Walk-ons numerous times. The food and service is subpar for a university neighborhood bar and grill. I like the restaurant and the menu has potential some day, they just haven't gotten it right yet. That being said, they do enjoy a good business because of their proximity and ties to LSU. They are their best during an LSU football or basketball game with the game on the numerous TVs, people drinking a lot of drinks, and enjoying the appetizers.

I have found the food and sevice to be good on my visits. I like dining both inside and outside. Be aware they use a very sweet sauce on some of their items that is too sweet for me. Some may like this level of sweetness, but I don't. Also note that the servings are very large. I will return and will enjoy my visit.

I did not find this to be New Orleans food and restaurant at its finest as indicated by the previous reviewer. I dine in New Orleans fairly often and eat out regularly in Baton Rouge. I found the food to have more of a canned taste than any restaurant I have every been in. The salads have been fairly good, but the entrees, veggies, and desserts have been fair to poor, certainly not anything to write home to mom about! The service has been average. It's possible I have just failed to order some of their better items on my visits and I will return to check this out, but I am not very optimistic.

Limited menu, excellent quality food, service, and ambiance. Reasonable prices. Special emphasis on great iced tea, drinks, prime rib, burgers, desserts, service. For health reasons, I wish they offered alternatives to french fries with the burgers and some of their meals like most other restaurants are now doing.

The only true Texas style barbecue in Baton Rouge. Excellnt meats, potato salad, beans, Texas toast. The cashiers make you feel like they don't care if you come or not -- you don't feel very welcome here. I have eaten here or gotten food to take home about 10 times and I will return; I am always prepared for a poor personal experience and great barbecue.

Good (not great) German food, good service, very nice people, enjoyable overall, overpriced for food served. I grew up eating true German food fixed by my German mom and our German friends, and I have traveled in Germany; this food does not compare.

I really like the feel of this restaurant. It is a neighborhood restaurant with a more laid back feel than most neighborhoold restaurants and I have enjoyed most of my 8-10 visits. The menu is somewhat eclectic and the food is pretty good, with a nice selection at lunch, with a very similar menu at dinner. They have an excellent wine list, both by the glass and by the bottle, and good wine prices for a restaurant. The only true disappointment I have had has been their service. They seem to have hired great people, but they all see to be tense and poorly trained. I have not received good service on any of my visits, when comparing the service I receive here to similar restaurants. I still return to this restaurant, but I have friends who refuse to go back. I do hope they will fix this problem.

I agree that Sarah's experience was both unfortunate and unusual for this restaurant. I have dined at The Little Village 5-6 times and I have never had the experiences described. We had a fantastic meal and a great experience. The village bread is wonderful, and all of the entrees tried by our friends in various groups were always excellent. Twof my friends at our table last night thought the salads were delicious, but I personally found the salads to be unimpressive - I have tried the sensation and house salads during my 5-6 trips to this restaurant. I don't understand this in a good restaurant. They use dressings, olives, etc. that should make a great salad, but I have had a blah feeling after eating the salad on each of my visits. I don't know whether they make them early in the day and they have been sitting in the refrigerator, or if they fail to make sure the lettuce, etc. is dry before mixing in the dressings. Unfortunately, they are just mediocre in my judgment. The desserts are good. They serve the "custard" style bread pudding and I do not like this style, but everyone else at our table liked it (yeah, we share tastes!). The restaurant can get very loud when it is full at night. This is not a problem at lunch. The ambiance is great and really adds to the experience. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone. Just one request to the owners: post your menu on the Internet.
