You mentioned, in a review of La Tiendita, that the Coca-Cola is from Mexico and is made with sugar rather than corn syrup. That is because the price of sugar in the U.S. is at least three times that in the rest of the world. This, in turn, is because of our sugar quotas and the protection of our sugar industry. I have had "real coke" in Hong Kong, Macau, and London, as well as in Mexico. Don't you wish that, for the sake of us consumers, our sugar producers had to compete with the rest of the world's sugar growers? (Also, our trade policies prevent our importing ethanol made from sugar. It is much more environmentally sound than ethanol made from corn, which uses almost as much energy to make as the energy that is produced.)
