Indeed, a well written article. I loved everthing about Bertman, except for one thing most Baton Rouge residents may not remember.
When Nolan Ryan and others wished to move a minor league Double-A team to Baton Rouge in 1997, ole Skip lead the charge to say a minor league team would take away revenue from LSU, and he also opposed them sharing Alex Box, until Golsby was renovated.
It's that kind of thinking that, THANK GOODNESS, Baton Rouge has overcome in its march to becoming a leading city in the south.
