The Louisiana State Museum- Baton Rouge is one of the newest additions the Louisiana State Museum system under the Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism. The 69,000 square foot facility features thematic exhibits on the diverse aspects of Louisiana history, industry and culture. The museum includes two permanent exhibitions; Grounds for Greatness: Louisiana and the Nation, and Experiencing Louisiana: Discovering the Soul of America. From the Louisiana Purchase to Mardi Gras traditions throughout the state these exhibitions offer a comprehensive and stimulating experience of everything Louisiana. Civil War submarines, the iconic New Orleans Lucky Dog cart, musical artifacts from Fats Domino, Buddy Guy, Clarence Gatemouth Brown, Aaron Neville and much more are all a part this impressive collection. In addition, the Museum hosts changing exhibitions in its second-floor gallery space, which features a wide range of topics related to Louisiana's art, culture and history.

· Saturday 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM
· Sunday 1:00 PM to 4:30 PM

Updated museum hours:
Tuesday-Fridays 9am-3:30 pm
Saturdays 9am-4:30 pm
Sundays 1pm-4:30 pm
