While Baton Rouge Gallery is a traditional exhibition space with bright white walls and no distractions, it is housed in a non-traditional space: on the grounds of City Park Golf Course. Although it is one of the oldest galleries in Baton Rouge, the art does not reflect its age. The gallery also is one of the oldest artist cooperatives, a place where existing artist members choose new members through an application process, resulting in professional artists producing work in every medium. The non-profit gallery holds monthly art exhibits, "Sundays at 4," showcasing dance, literature, music and theater. It also produces Movies and Music on the Lawn, a venue for films and featuring local musicians.
