Pop-Pop pops up at the mall

Veteran comedic actor Jeffrey Tambor was spotted shopping at the Mall of Louisiana recently, on a break from filming the bank heist comedy Flypaper in Baton Rouge. Sisters-in-law Stephanie and Lindsay Ruiz de Chavez recognized Tambor as “‘Pop-Pop’ George Bluth Sr.” from Arrested Development and asked the 66-year-old Larry Sanders Show veteran for a quick picture. “He was so very nice,” Stephanie tells 225.

Rizzo’s star turn?

Healing Place Church pastor Dino Rizzo is used to being on television—his sermons are broadcast locally—but he’ll soon be appearing as an actor in his first feature film, the independent drama Letting Go. Written and directed by Lisa Arnold, the New Orleans-set movie is a production of Church of the King in Mandeville. Letting Go tells the story of a woman whose husband’s sudden death leaves her emotionally adrift and angry with God. For more information on the film and Rizzo’s role, visit cotkpictures.com.

Who Dat say they gonna sue?

Former Baton Rougean Lauren Thom, owner of the New Orleans-based boutique Fleurty Girl, is being sued—not by the NFL, but by brothers Steve and Sal Monistere. They claim to hold the copyright on “Who Dat,” words emblazoned on one of Thom’s more popular T-shirts. Steve Monistere recorded a song called “Who Dat” in 1983 with Saints players and Aaron Neville. During the Saints’ run through the playoffs last season, the NFL demanded that Fleurty Girl, Storyville Apparel and other Louisiana-based companies stop selling merchandise with the well-known catch phrase. That demand was later dropped, but Monistere argues that anyone putting “Who Dat” on merchandise must first license the phrase from their firm WhoDat?, Inc. Both Thom and Storyville co-owner Josh Harvey say they are not backing down.

The regulator gets regulated

Murphy Painter has made his share of enemies as head of the state’s Office of Alcohol and Tobacco Control, which wages war against bar and restaurant owners who violate liquor laws. Painter abruptly stepped down in August after news broke of an Inspector General’s Office and State Police investigation into his office. WBRZ reported that officials were looking into allegations of harassment by intimidation and charges that Painter conducted illegal background searches. The TV station reported he’s also alleged to have hired his live-in girlfriend Pam Salario at a salary of more than $60,000 without interviewing any of 50 other applicants for the job.

I can understand why somebody may be a stalker or want to hire his girlfriend. Who amongst us has never stalked somebody before? We all do it some time or another. Follow them around, drive by their house, peek in the window, hide in the bushes, or under their bed, or in the closet to see what they are up to... We all do this... No big deal, that is understandable....but to be an ATC Czar that destroys American Business and American Dreams... How can anybody want to do such a thing?
