Farmers Market's no-pets policy
In response to the increasing popularity of and some unpleasant incidents at its Saturday market, the Red Stick Farmers Market and Main Street Market recently adopted a no-pets policy. The new rule states: "Due to health and safety of food products and market patrons, pets are not permitted within the market area, building, walkways or retail locations unless serving in an official assistance capacity."
Twilight Safari
BREC's Baton Rouge Zoo offers its final Twilight Safari of the summer from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 23. Take a sunset tram ride through the zoo and have a snack. $15 for adults and teens; $12 for children 2 to 12. Space is limited, so pre-registration is required. Feliciana hummingbird celebration
The Feliciana Nature Society's annual hummingbird celebration takes flight on July 25-26. The event includes a speakers panel and the chance to observe hummingbirds as they are banded at two private homes in St. Francisville.
