A collection of photographic portraits by renowned Canadian photographer Yousuf Karsh is on display at the LSU Museum of Art now through January 2008, a gift of William Richard and Judith Ann Smith. Karsh’s iconic portraits are among the world’s most celebrated, including a 1941 portrait of Sir Winston Churchill that graced the cover of Life magazine in 1945 and became a stoic symbol of wartime Britain. A group show including work by local artists Charles Barbier, Jim Burke, Mary Ann Caffery and Paul Dean now is on display through May 31 at the Baton Rouge Gallery. And on May 11, get ready for the spring installment of the Mid City Art Hop, “Hot Art, Cool Nights.”
