Most people are embarrassed to admit they drink white zinfandel, but wine guru Dori Murvin of Fleming’s Steakhouse puts customers at ease by admitting that’s where she got started.
Although you may have heard the saying, “Friends don’t let friends drink white zinfandel,” Murvin says it is the perfect springboard into the world of wine.
Fleming’s offers a dizzying array of wines by the glass—100, to be exact. And while that may seem overwhelming, diners will find the list surprisingly user-friendly. It’s arranged in progressive order from lightest to fullest intensity and divided by varietal.
The three-glass wine flight is a no-commitment way to experiment. Served in a spiraling caddy and arranged in progressive order, wine flights feature two-ounce pours of any three wines by the glass.
The philosophy at Fleming’s is simple: choosing and drinking a wine should be an enjoyable experience, not an intimidating one.
“We are here to help educate without being overbearing or pretentious,” Murvin says.
