Poor Boy Lloyd's

205 Florida St.

(225) 387-2271

Hours: Monday through Thursday 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Sure, you can go to Poor Boy Lloyd's for the great breakfasts, or the obvious--the po'boys. But one of the best bets is a dish that's a throw back to years past, a beloved homey favorite: chicken and dumplings. On Thursdays, Poor Boy Lloyd's cooks up its rendition, traditional stew of chicken in a thick, aromatic gravy topped with gorgeous homemade dumplings, like the kind made the old-school way, rolled out like noodles, not biscuit style. PBL's inherited the recipe from the old Brunswick, a popular downtown dining spot in its day. You can still taste the love.
