Holiday cocktails and coffee drinks to get or make in Baton Rouge

As the holidays roll around, so do the red and green cups at coffee shops. Even bars get into the festive spirit with specialty cocktails.

The 225 Dine team put together a guide to Baton Rouge specialty holiday beverages, so you can drink your way to Christmas.

And for those cold days, when leaving your home for a mocha or mixed drink just doesn’t seem worth it, we even added a few cocktail and coffee recipes you can make at home with only a few ingredients.

Cheers!

Boozy seasonal flavors around town

Great Raft Brewing Awkward Uncle from Bin Q Liquor
This hot holiday commodity from Shreveport beer makers Great Raft Brewing is as boozy as its name suggests with 8% ABV. The Belgian strong dark ale is infused with flavors of cherries, ginger and cinnamon.

Gingerbread Man at Galatoire’s Bistro
Part of the Galatoire’s sidebar’s Christmas cocktail menu, the Gingerbread Man blends Sailor Jerry spiced rum with Grand Marnier, cinnamon, clove and lemon, topped off with a ginger snap crumble on the rim.

Clown Shoes Pecan Pie Porter at Corporate Brew & Draft
It might seem strange to trust a pecan pie beer from a brewery based out of Massachusetts, but flavors of brown sugar, coffee, vanilla and pecan make this one potent elixir.

Chicory Coffee Martini at The Chimes
There’s something wonderfully comforting and nostalgic about New Orleans-style chicory coffee. The Chimes has turned that nostalgia-inducing flavor into a cocktail made with Angel’s Envy Kentucky Bourbon, Hoodoo Chicory Liqueur, Godiva liqueur and dark roast coffee.

Hot Buttered Rum at The Cove
A traditional drink of Caribbean settlers made with melted butter, rum, clove and cinnamon, this hot toddy will warm you up from the inside out.

Evil Twin Brewing Christmas Eve at a NYC Hotel Room at The Bulldog
The name is a mouthful, and the flavor packs just as much of a punch. This full-bodied stout carries dark flavors of plum, pomegranate, chocolate and molasses.

Peppermint Mocha at Highland Coffees
This is not your average peppermint mocha. Highland Coffees includes peppermint syrup AND Ghirardelli chocolate powder to make this holiday-themed mocha.

Gingerbread Latte at Brew Ha-Ha
There’s nothing like the taste of a warm gingerbread latte from Brew Ha-Ha during the holidays. You can also grab a festive gingerbread cake ball while you’re at it.

Seasonal drinks to make at home

Rosemary Cran Smash
This holiday cocktail has flavors of cranberry sauce, rosemary leaves, orange juice, St. Germaine, vodka and soda water. It’s the perfect fizzy, fruity drink to pair with Christmas dinner. Plus, it’s in pretty shades of festive red and green.

Easy Peppermint Mocha
This holiday drink staple can actually be made right at the kitchen counter. The ingredient list is short and doesn’t require any fancy coffee machine. Just brew some strong coffee, mix in your peppermint and chocolate, and you’re ready to enjoy.

Eggnog Latte
If you’re a big fan of this classic holiday beverage, mix it up by adding coffee. T
his recipe offers an opportunity to learn how to make your own eggnog and incorporate it into your latte. While the ingredient list is longer, it is fairly basic with cream, espresso and eggs.

White Chocolate Raspberry Vanilla Latte
If you’re looking for a coffee drink that stands out from the average holiday mochas and lattes, this drink takes less than 10 minutes to make and only has three ingredients.

Christmas Sangria
If you’re more of a wine drinker, mix
two bottles of a white wine with apple cider, cranberries, Granny Smith apples and rosemary sprigs to make a holiday sangria.

Honey Winter Bourbon Cocktail with Honey Sage Syrup
With its down-home flavors—bourbon, honey, sage leaves and orange peel—this drink stands out among all the peppermint and eggnog drinks.
