Three chefs from recent TV show competitions—two of which hail from Baton Rouge—will host a food soirée called Too Many Cooks at Tin Roof Brewery next week.

Jay Ducote and Rue Rusike, who competed this season on Food Network Star, and Jesse Romero, who competed on FOX’s MasterChef, are combining their skills to cook up a three-meal dinner. Rusike is a Brooklyn-based chef originally from Zimbabwe who was the fifth contestant eliminated from Food Network Star. Ducote made it to the top three of that competition. Romero competed on MasterChef before being eliminated in an episode shocker.

Ducote will prepare a cast-iron pot of red beans and Cajun Country rice with andouille sausage, Rusike will whip up an oxtail and okra stew, and Romero will make a savory dish of honey-glazed chicken thighs and roasted potatoes.

The Too Many Cooks event is Sept. 2, 6-9 p.m. at the Tin Roof Tap Room. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased here.
