Alexander’s Highland Market hosts Spanish Wine and Tapas dinner next Thursday, July 30

Sample Spanish wines and a variety of foods next week at Alexander’s Highland Market.

The store at 18111 Highland Market Drive will host a tapas dinner Thursday, July 30. The event begins with a reception at 6:30 p.m. and dinner at 7 p.m. in the café.

Tickets are $75 per person. Those who purchase tickets by Friday, July 24, will be eligible to win $150 in featured wines. The event also features door prizes.

Check out the menu:

  • Reception: Assorted olives, artichoke hearts, shaved Manchego and bacon-wrapped Medjool dates served with toast points, sun-dried tomatoes and olive tapenade
  • First and second courses: Serrano ham-wrapped melon and drunken figs. Seared whole calamari with fresh herbs, garlic and lemon, paired with crispy fried calamari served over spicy diablo sauce
  • Third and fourth courses: Empanadas. Bruschetta Espana, garlic crostini topped with heirloom tomatoes, marinated spanish onions and herbs, served over a mixed green salad
  • Fifth and sixth courses: Spanish-style Carpaccio with a Sherry reduction, shaved onions, Marcona almonds and fried capers. Crawfish and shrimp-stuffed poblano pepper, served with a smoky tomato cream
  • Seventh and eighth courses: Pork Molé served over a grit cake with fresh roasted corn salsa. Spanish garlic prawns in Fino Sherry, served sizzling with parsley and fresh lemon
  • Ninth and tenth courses: Grilled fish on a bed of grilled scallions and drizzled with a cilantro butter. Traditional seafood paella with shrimp, clams, mussels and scallops
  • Eleventh course: Dessert trio
  • Wines include Verdejo, Veiga Naum Albarino, Penamonte Rose and Puerta Vieja Rioja Crianza
