American Radio Relay League Field Day

When: Saturday, June 28, 2008, 2 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Where: Highland Road Park Observatory

Cost: Free

Age limit: 11+

Categories: History/Science

Description: Owen Garriot took the first amateur radio into space in 1983. Shannon Lucid used a ham radio while on the MIR space station. That's right...if you are a ham, it's possible to be listening and receive a "general call" from an astronaut in space! Come find out everything you wanted to know about ham radio. Temporary stations will be set up on HRPO grounds as the Baton Rouge Amateur Radio Club takes part in an exciting national contest!
