Barnes & Noble Bookfair to support local adult literacy services

When: Saturday, Aug. 30, 2008, 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Where: Barnes and Noble, 2590 Citiplace Court , Baton Rouge

Cost: $1

Age limit: All ages

Categories: Literary, Community

Description: From Saturday, August 30 through Sunday, September 7, both local Barnes & Noble Booksellers will donate a percentage of their sales to The Greater Baton Rouge Literacy Coalition. To participate, patrons need only to tell the sales associate at the register they would like their purchase to benefit The Literacy Coalition. With 28% of our local population functioning at the lowest measured level of literacy, and many of those adults being parents, your support of this fundraiser will help adult literacy service providers recruit and retain more students, electronically track student achievement and implement best practices.
