Description: MOA Nights: Modern and Contemporary African American Art is three floors of jazz-inspired visual and performing arts, refreshments and cash bar at the Shaw Center for the Arts. Live jazz and performance poetry, step demonstrations, and a DJ on the rooftop terrace will further electrify the exhibit Living with Art: Modern and Contemporary African American Art from the Alitash Kebede Collection.

POETRY JAM at 7:30: A series of performances by professional spoken word artists and amateur poets.
Highlights include: Chancellor Xero Skidmore, Baton Rouge-based spoken word artist, with jazz accompaniment by Michael Foster Project trumpeter, John Gray, and Friends.
Living With Art: Modern and Contemporary African American Art from the Alitash Kebede Collection features 75 works by the most significant 20th century African American artists.
LSU Museum of Art Administration Offices (3rd Floor)
The Charles Phelps Manship, Jr. Floor
Enjoy refreshments, cash bar, jazz sounds, and a view of the Mississippi River.
Live Step Demonstration by The Baton Rouge Delta Alumnae Chapter, DELTA SIGMA THETA Sorority, Inc., performances on all three floors throughout the evening.
Tickets will be sold the evening of the event.
$5 for LSU MOA members, $8 for non-members.
On Friday, March 23, the LSU MOAlites’ latest art experience puts Modern and Contemporary African American Art in the spotlight, adds a soundtrack, and invites the city to come and see.
