Description: The Baton Rouge Gallery center for contemporary art is bringing Nottingham to City Park for this month’s Movies & Music on the Lawn feature, Robin Hood. This 1922 silent film will be shown September 30th at 8p.m., accompanied by the forest-frolicking sounds of the Red Shift Collective. Admission is free for members and five-dollars for the public.
Actor and co-writer, Douglas Fairbanks dons the green tights and feather cap to bring the acrobatic and heroic Robin Hood to life. The film follows the traditional storyline of the medieval tale with Maid Marian, Friar Tuck and Little John in tow. This version of Robin Hood set the swashbuckling standard that most audiences associate with the legendary character. The million-dollar budget made Robin Hood the most expensive movie made in the 1920s and it was the first feature to be honored by a Hollywood premier.
Bring a blanket, a buddy and leave Kevin Costner at home. In case of rain the feature is shown indoors. For information please visit our website www.batonrougegallery.org
