| Baton Rouge native's video goes viral |

More than 500 years of video footage is viewed through Facebook alone every single day. Baton Rouge native Rosalind Rubin, now a Los Angeles-based actress, joined that Pantheon of viral video sensations this week when her clip “How to Pick Up a Girl at the Gym” racked up nearly 11 million views and caught the attention of the blogosphere, The Huffington Post and NBC's The Today Show.
“I've done online content in the past but nothing has caught like this,” says Rubin, a U-High graduate with experience in stage, television and film projects. “Why anything goes viral makes no sense. Jarrett Sleeper [the clip's star] called me up, explained the idea, and asked if I wanted to do it with him. Since it sounded insane and silly, I said yes.”
Could the title's implication of promising fit women in Spandex have boosted the video's viewer count?
“It had a lot to do with it I'm sure,” Rubin says. “Everything has to have a hook and our title was our hook.”
The popular clip is the first collaboration between Rubin and Sleeper. The pair shot the video at a gym in north Hollywood last Sunday.
Rubin has lived in California for more than three years, and like many young actors in Hollywood, while she makes the rounds at auditions she is developing her own projects, too. She says more videos with Sleeper are on the way.
“I don't know if this in particular will lead to anything, but you never know,” she says. “How do I capitalize on becoming a meme? No idea, but I'm trying to figure it out.” rosalindrubin.com

Bad Guys, Good Eats! Pop-Up Dinner at Restaurant IPO
Chef and 225 contributor Jay D. Ducote and Chef Chris Wadsworth hosted the Bad Guys, Good Eats! dinner at Restaurant IPO Wednesday night. The dinner was themed around famous movie villains, pairing cocktails and ales with plates of food resembling famous baddies like The Joker, Lord Voldemort, Hannibal Lector, and many others. The highlights of the night were the three middle courses—a black bean soup laced with blood sausage to signify Lord Voldemort, a brace of coneys on black eyed peas resembling Sauron, and lamb medallions atop a fava bean puree to pay homage to the famous favorite of Hannibal Lector.
