Bayou Teche Brewing is honoring U.S. service members with its new, limited edition release.

On the Fourth of July, the Arnaudville brewery will release 31 Stout. The beer is named after the 31 U.S. service members and their K-9 lost on Aug. 6, 2011 in Afghanistan. The men were aboard a helicopter that was shot down by a rocket-propelled grenade in the Tangi Valley.

The beer is a milk stout and will be packaged in 22-ounce Belgian-style bottles. Profits from each case and keg sold of 31 Stout will be donated to the Special Operations Warrior Foundation and the 31Heroes Project.

31 Stout will be exclusively released Saturday, July 4, at a party that starts at the brewery’s tap room at 10 a.m. Live music starts at 11 a.m. Lost Bayou Ramblers will perform at 3 p.m.

The beer will be made available in the coming weeks at exclusive retailers throughout the state, according to a press release.
